“But why should truth be pursued at the expensive of my emotional stability?” Think you meant ‘expense’. You really need to think that statement through — if while I am seeking the truth someone gets upset with me because they think I am attacking them (maybe i am disagreeing with something they sincerely and deeply believe), I must stop seeking the truth? The Ptolemacs got very upset with Copernicus when he showed the Earth was not flat and the Pope got violently upset (literally!) as the Earth was no longer the centre of the universe where rational theology said it should be. Personally, I am very glad when someone uses a chainsaw on my emotional tree, the greatest growth times in my life came from some of those assaults — I never want to go back there but I am glad they happened.
